UTM Link Builder for Creators - Track Bio, YouTube & Story Links

Tracking links with social media presets so GA4 shows what works.

Updated October 2026

Private by design: your files are processed on your own device and never uploaded.

How to use

  1. 1 Paste the page you are linking to.
  2. 2 Click a preset (Instagram bio, YouTube description, newsletter) or fill source, medium and campaign yourself.
  3. 3 Optionally add content to tell two links on the same page apart.
  4. 4 Copy the tracking link, shorten it if needed, and use it everywhere.

What UTM parameters do

UTM tags are extra parameters on a link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) that Google Analytics 4 and most analytics tools read to attribute a visit. Without them, traffic from an Instagram bio shows up as 'direct' or 'l.instagram.com / referral', which is useless for deciding where to spend effort.

A naming convention that stays readable

Keep source as the platform (instagram, youtube, tiktok), medium as the channel type (social, video, email), campaign as the placement or launch (bio, story, launch-march) and content as the specific link (button-top, video-12). Always lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces. This tool enforces that so your GA4 reports do not split 'Instagram' and 'instagram' into two rows.

Where to find the results

GA4: Reports → Acquisition → Traffic acquisition, then change the dimension to Session campaign or Session source / medium. Add a secondary dimension of Session manual ad content to see utm_content.

Questions

Do UTM links hurt SEO?

No. Search engines treat the parameters as the same page; set a canonical tag on your site to be safe.

Can I use UTMs on someone else's website?

Yes, but only the site owner sees the data.

Why is my link not tracking?

The site must have GA4 or another analytics tool installed, and redirects by link shorteners must preserve parameters (most do).

Should I shorten UTM links?

For bios and spoken links, yes. Shorteners keep the parameters.

What is utm_term for?

Paid search keywords. Creators rarely need it.
