Why sizes matter more than ever
Platforms crop uploads to their own shapes. Instagram now shows feed posts as 4:5 in the profile grid, YouTube crops banners differently on TV, desktop and mobile, and LinkedIn hides part of your banner behind the profile picture. Uploading at the exact size listed here means your text and faces stay where you put them.
The sizes that cover 90 percent of posts
If you only remember four: 1080x1350 for Instagram and Threads feed posts, 1080x1920 for every story, Reel, Short and TikTok, 1280x720 for YouTube thumbnails and 1200x630 for link previews on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp. Everything else is a banner or profile picture that you set once.
File size limits
Instagram: 30 MB for images. YouTube: 2 MB thumbnails, 6 MB banners. Facebook: 100 KB recommended for covers to avoid extra compression. X: 5 MB. LinkedIn: 8 MB. Pinterest: 20 MB. Use the Image Compressor to stay within the limits without visible loss.
