How to use
- 1 Type what the post is about (for example: home workout, street food, golden retriever).
- 2 Leave niche on Auto-detect or pick one, and choose how many hashtags you want (Instagram allows 30).
- 3 Click Generate. Green tags are niche, blue are medium, grey are popular.
- 4 Remove any that do not fit, then Copy all and paste under your caption or in the first comment.
Why a mix of hashtag sizes works best
Hashtags with millions of posts (#love, #instagood) bury your post in seconds. Hashtags with a few thousand posts are easy to rank in but reach few people. The sweet spot is a mix: a few popular tags for a burst of impressions, a majority of medium tags (100k to 1M posts) where you can actually reach the top section, and niche tags that describe exactly what the post shows so Instagram's recommendation system understands the content.
How many hashtags should you use in 2026
Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post and recommends using 3 to 5. Tests by large creator communities show that 8 to 15 relevant tags still outperform 3 on most accounts under 100k followers, while 30 random tags can look spammy. This generator defaults to 20 so you can trim to the ones that truly match the post. Relevance beats volume: every tag should describe something visible in the post.
Hashtags in caption or first comment
Both work for reach. Putting them in the caption is slightly better for Reels, because the recommendation system reads the caption first. If you prefer a clean caption, use our Line Break tool to add spacing, then put the hashtags after a few dots or in the first comment within a minute of posting.

Questions
Are these hashtags banned or restricted?
The dataset avoids known banned tags. Instagram changes restrictions without notice, so if a tag shows no recent posts when you tap it, drop it.
Does the generator use my account data?
No. It works from the keyword and a curated dataset by niche. Nothing is sent to Instagram.
Can I use the same hashtags on every post?
Avoid copying the exact same block every time; Instagram may treat it as repetitive. Keep a base of 5-8 tags and vary the rest per post.
Do hashtags work for Reels?
Yes. Reels rely more on the caption and audio, but 5-10 relevant hashtags still help the first hour of distribution.
Why do I see fewer than 30 tags?
You chose a smaller count, or you removed some. Click Shuffle for a fresh set.
