Facebook cover photo size 2026

Facebook displays page covers at 820x312 pixels on desktop and 640x360 on phones. Because the mobile view is narrower, the left and right 90 pixels are cut off on phones. The white dashed box in the editor marks the 640-pixel-wide area that is visible everywhere; keep logos, text and faces inside it.

Group and event covers

Group covers are uploaded at 1640x856 but displayed at roughly 1640x640, so the top and bottom are cropped. Event covers are 1920x1005 and shown almost in full. Profile pictures are 400x400 and shown round. The presets in this tool draw the right guides for each.

Avoiding Facebook compression

Facebook compresses covers heavily. Upload a JPG under 100 KB (the editor's 92 percent JPG export of an 820x312 image is usually 60 to 90 KB) or a PNG for graphics with text, and avoid fine patterns that compress badly.
